THE BOLOGNA CHARM
Bolonia is a special beach for many things:
The tides and the winds endow it with a very fine sand, that makes that in its northern part there is a dune, incredible mass of sand built and shaped by the wind, protected natural monument that gives it an unmistakable image. From the top you can enjoy an incredible view of the whole taught and the African coast.
For its 4 kilometers of virgin beach, it is considered one of the best beaches in Spain, which year after year appears at the top of the rankings of the best beaches in Spain and Europe.
For having a dream sunset. Its southwest orientation makes it a real pleasure to be caressed by the last rays of the sun as it plunges into the sea, enjoying the breeze, an authentic luxury.
Because it’s a natural park. Bolonia is located within the Natural Park of the Strait, a protected area of great ecological value, a unique environment, a Mediterranean forest of cantuesos, mastics, jaras, and Chaparro, where they are made of honey and cheeses of excellent quality. Hiking in the area is a real pleasure.
On the coast, a few houses pile up to form the small urban nucleus of El Lentiscal, located in the middle of the inlet. A pleasure to dive into its crystal clear waters, full of fish and marine life that you can observe with the naked eye or with glasses just 3 meters from the shore.
For the archaeological complex of the old and prosperous city of Baelo Claudia, from the 2nd century BC, visit mandatory. It is declared a National Historic Monument. The site is surprising for its state of conservation and takes us back 20 centuries. We can walk through its streets, visit the remains of the forum and the theatre, its temples, the curia, and its market. The visit is completed with the interpretation center, where you can admire unique pieces, such as the fascinating solar clock.

In the area they are fished in different traps from Tarifa to Barbate, the bluefin tuna is the king of the gastronomy of the region, but in addition to the king (the tuna) and the queen (the cow retinta) we find a whole cut: shrimp tortillas, borriquetes, urtas, mullet, sole, groupers, freshly cooked and cooked by experts, a delicatessen that we can taste in different restaurants in the area, of all types and for different pockets.
For its atmosphere, Tarifa is a paradise for windsurfing, kite surfing and other water sports, sports that attract endless fans from all over the world, who mix with national tourism, giving Bolonia in particular and Tarifa and its region, in general, a very cosmopolitan atmosphere in which everyone is welcome.
